The local SEO audit

What the free business grader checks

Eight checks, all run against what is already public about your business. Nothing is connected, nothing is installed, and no account of yours is accessed. This is the view from outside your front door.

  1. Finds your business everywhere it appears

Google Business Profile, maps, directories, delivery marketplaces and your own site, then compares name, address, phone number, category and website across all of them.

  2. Grades profile completeness and accuracy

Category, description, attributes, photos, service areas, products and links. Missing fields are listed; fields that disagree between two sources are flagged separately, because a contradiction is worse than a blank. Keeping it right is Google Business Profile management.

  3. Checks hours, holiday hours included

Wrong holiday hours are the most common accuracy failure in local listings, and the one that ends with a customer at a locked door.

  4. Measures review volume, recency and your response rate

Count, rating, how recent the newest reviews are and what share you have replied to, each next to the same number for the competitors it names.

  5. Names your actual local competitors

The businesses taking the same trips, by name and distance. That list is frequently not the one owners expect.

  6. Compares assortment and published prices

The items where you look expensive, and the categories your neighbors sell that you do not appear to. Want prices only, straight away? Run the free price check.

  7. Tests where you are recommended

We ask the questions a nearby customer would ask an AI assistant and record which businesses get named. If you are left out, the grade shows who is named instead.

  8. Ranks what to fix first

Every finding is graded and ordered by what it is likely to be costing you, so the teardown ends in a short list you could act on yourself this week with no software at all.

Get your grade

We run your grade with you

No card, no connections, no contract. Bring your business name and address; we bring the eight checks.

  1. Book a demo

Pick a time on the book a demo page and tell us the business and, if you have more than one, how many locations.

  2. Walk through your grade

We run the grade with you and go through every finding: what is wrong, what it is likely costing you, and what to fix first.

  3. Keep the teardown

The graded teardown is a document you keep whether or not you continue. Plenty of owners fix three things themselves and stop there.

Free and connected

What is free, and what your data adds

The grader sees everything about your business that is public. Connect your register and Esplanda works from the inside too.

The free graded teardown, and what becomes possible once a register is connected.
QuestionFree grader, nothing connectedOnce your data is connected
Is my profile complete and consistent?Yes, gradedKept correct continuously
Are my hours right everywhere?Yes, holidays includedUpdated everywhere from one place
How do my reviews compare locally?Yes, against named competitorsReplies drafted, review flow managed
Who am I actually competing with?Yes, by name and distanceTheir prices tracked continuously
Where do I look expensive?Published pricesAgainst your real cost and margin floor
Am I being recommended by assistants?Yes, a snapshotTracked over time as answers change
What is about to run out on my shelf? With your registerForecast per item, with days of cover
Which customers have stopped coming in?With your registerYes, with the spend at risk
What did each recommendation earn? With your registerPredicted and measured, in dollars

The right column is what connecting a register makes possible; see how Esplanda works. Every recommendation there is stored with what it predicted and what it measured in the outcome ledger. None of it is needed to read your grade, and reading your grade commits you to none of it.

What the grade tells you

A snapshot you can act on this week

Your grade describes one moment, accurately. Listings change, competitors open and close, review counts move, and AI assistants answer the same question differently on different days and for different people.

  • Visibility, dated

The assistant findings are what happened when we asked, in your area, on that day, with who was named instead of you. For tracking over time, see the AI visibility tool.

  • The fixable half, reliably

Blank fields, hours that contradict each other, reviews nobody answered, categories your neighbors cover and you do not. True today, still true tomorrow if you do nothing, and mostly fixable by hand in an afternoon. For the mechanics, see local SEO software.

Questions

Free local SEO audit questions owners ask

Is the business grader really free?

Yes. There is no card, no trial that starts counting and no purchase attached. You give us a business name and an address, we run the grade with you, and the graded teardown is yours to keep. Nobody has to buy anything, and plenty of owners read it, fix three things themselves and stop there.

How do I get my grade?

Book a demo with your business name and address, and we run the grade with you: every check, every finding and the fixes ranked by what they are likely costing you. The teardown is a written document, so you can read it again on your phone in the stockroom and forward it to whoever helps you with this.

Do I have to connect my POS or my Google account to get graded?

No. The grader reads only what is already public about your business, so it needs no register connection, no Google Business Profile login and no access to any account you own. You find out how you look from the outside without granting anything to anyone.

What does the grader actually check?

Profile completeness and accuracy across the public places your business appears, hours including holiday hours, review volume and recency and your response rate, your local competitors by name and distance, assortment and published prices against nearby stores, and whether AI assistants name you when a nearby customer asks where to buy. Every finding is graded and ranked by what it is likely to be costing you.

What happens to my information?

Your business name and address are used to run your grade. We do not sell your information and we do not pass it to any third party.

How accurate is a free grader?

It is accurate about what is public, as a snapshot of one moment. Listings change and assistants answer the same question differently on different days, so the visibility findings describe what happened when we asked. The grade is most useful on the fixable half: missing fields, contradictory hours, unanswered reviews and gaps you can close this week.

What does connecting my data add?

Everything that lives inside your business: your margins, your true stock on hand, which items are about to run out, which customers have stopped coming in, and what a decision would earn you in dollars. Those come from a connected register. The free grader covers how you look from the outside, which is the half of the picture most owners have never seen.

Can I get a grade for more than one location?

Yes. Tell us how many locations you have when you book, and each one is graded separately, because competitors and review positions differ street by street. If you go on to use Esplanda, extra locations are $0 on locations that process with Esplanda and $49 a month otherwise; every line is on Esplanda pricing.
